OT/PT Therapy

Occupational Therapy and Physical Therapy are provided through the educational model and through the private pay medical model. PHCS has one Certified Occupational Therapist and one Certified Physical Therapist with 2 Certified OT Assistants.  PHCS has a well designed therapy center with an area for group therapy and 4 smaller individual therapy rooms.  Our therapists are certified in Sensory Integration therapy.  Whether or not a child received Education OT/PT from their IEP, each child still benefits from therapy through the classroom.  Teachers are trained to use SI techniques in the classroom throughout the day to assist students who may exhibit hyper-sensitivies or hypo-sensitivities - trampolines, bean bag chairs, weighted vests and blankets, body socks, chew toys, handwriting assisters, obstacle courses, brushing, etc.  The classrooms also implement Brain Gym throughout the day.  The therapists are available to recommend appropriate seating enhancers as well as any other equipment that will help the child to be comfortable in the learning environment.
