Occupational & Physical Therapy

Occupational and physical therapy are provided through the educational model. PHCS has a team of certified therapists and therapy assistants. Whether or not a child receives occupational or physical therapy based on their individual education plan (IEP), each child still benefits from therapy through the classroom and our well designed therapy wing. Teachers are trained to use specialized techniques in the classroom to assist students who may exhibit hyper-sensitivities or hypo-sensitivities such as the use of trampolines, bean bag chairs, weighted vests and blankets, body socks, chew toys, handwriting assisters, obstacle courses, brushing, etc. The classrooms also implement a variety of movement activities throughout the day. The therapists are available to collaborate with the staff and recommend appropriate seating enhancers as well as any other equipment that will help the child to be comfortable and benefit from the learning environment.
